Outcome Goal
A goal defined by a result to be achieved, contrasted in the book with identity-based goals defined by who you become.
Outcome goals are useful for setting direction but fragile as engines of behaviour, because they put identity on hold until the result arrives and read every setback as evidence against you.
Identity Over Discipline recommends pairing any outcome with an identity, so that behaviour is driven by who you are rather than by whether the result has appeared yet.
This concept appears throughout Identity Over Discipline. Read the book →
