Consistency Without Motivation
Motivation is a mood. Consistency is a structure. Build the second and you stop needing the first.
The motivation trap
Waiting to feel motivated is a strategy that works right up until you don't feel motivated — which is precisely when it matters. Motivation is weather. You can't build a house that only stands in sunshine.
The alternative isn't more willpower; it's structure that doesn't depend on how you feel. Identity is the deepest layer of that structure.
Design for the worst day
A habit that only survives your best days will collapse on your average ones. The move is to shrink the action until it survives your worst day, then let the identity — 'this is just what I do' — carry it through the low points.
This idea is one thread. The full method is in Identity Over Discipline.
